Congressional Committees: A committee is a small group that specilizes in one area.There are 4 different types of committees.
Standing committees-permanent committees that handle bills in specific subject areas.
Joint committees- Membership drawn from house and senate to work on common policy areas.
Conference committees- Formed when the senate and the house pass a different version of the same bill.They then come together and iron out the differences.
Select committees- Temporary committee, created for a specific purpose .
